    CA-AG: Chris Kelly 2010?

    by: atdleft

Wed Apr 29, 2009 at 11:00:00 AM PDT

Hmmm... Facebook's Chief Privacy Officer may actually run for California Attorney General. Yes, I'm being serious. And moreso, he is. After all, he does have some policy experience from the Clinton White House.

Here, I'll let Chris Kelly explain himself.

At the very least, it looks like we'll have a wealth of great candidates to choose from. San Francisco DA Kamala Harris and Assembly Members Alberto Torrico (D-Newark), Pedro Nava (D-Santa Barbara), and Ted Lieu (D-Torrance) (respectively) have all already announced. But now, it looks like Kelly may be packing this great field of candidates some more.

    Oh, my... Decisions, decisions.

Facebook Budget Lobbying? Not So Much. It's All About The Tweet.

    by: joeesha

Twitter has really come unto its own. Reporting on the budget is a moment to moment affair. With Republicans meeting behind close doors, late night sessions, lock-outs, lock-ins, sleeping bags, travel toothbrushes, the real story is the tweet.

Calitics is once again the leader...reporting on the best tweets coming out of Sacramento.

Here it is 12:05, and I'm hanging on to every tweet coming from KQED's John Myers as it appears Republicans are electing a new leader.

The Facebook lobbying supposedly going on at Jose Solorio's Facebook page was really just bloggers/consultants(?) calling attention to themselves.

At this moment, Myers is reporting via Twitter that the Assembly and the governor have gone home, leaving only 11 GOP senators caucusing behind closed doors.

Four Obama Inspired Lessons for California Democrats

    by: Michael Fox

The Obama campaign should serve as a master class in winning elections for Democrats.

Unfortunately, not enough California Democrats are playing attention to the Obama campaign's most important lessons.

As the effects of the state's budget crisis and the nation's economic meltdown hit more and more California voters, the Democratic Party has a once in a generation opportunity to convince voters that it that will protect and defend their interests far better than the Republicans, as well as make fundamental and progressive changes in the way that California is governed.

But to do so will require that Democrats embrace and implement the lessons of the Obama campaign.

    These lessons are:

    1. Blame Republicans and Present a Democratic Solution
    2. Use the Internet
    3. Expand the Electorate
    4. Champion the Middle Class

Let's look at them one at a time.
